David Smith joins Citadel

David K. Smith joins Citadel Advisory Group as Financial and Accounting Relations Director.


Mr. Smith will liaison with clients’ accounting and taxation advisors in the areas of valuation and transaction structure. Chris Frevert, the firm’s principal, said, “The addition of Dave to the Citadel team allows us to expand our already robust list of services to clients and is instrumental in Citadel’s on-going efforts to offer complete merger and acquisition solutions to Northern Colorado’s growing middle market business environment.”
Mr. Smith brings over 20 years of business experience crossing a wide range of accounting and financial activities. His career began as a Certified Public Accountant with the international accounting firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. (now KPMG) where he specialized in auditing manufacturing concerns as well as providing business consulting services and corporate income tax preparation. Subsequently, Dave served as Vice President and Corporate Controller for Advanced Energy Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of high-technology equipment. His duties included responsibility for accounting systems, cash management, risk management, taxation and government compliance. Dave also played a significant role in the formation of several foreign subsidiaries and in the acquisition of domestic subsidiaries. During his 13 year career at Advanced Energy, Mr. Smith was a key participant in the company’s initial public offering, two secondary offerings and three major business enterprise software implementations. Mr. Smith graduated with honors from Colorado State University with a BS degree in Business Administration. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Wildlife Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and the International Wildlife Health Institute.
